19eighty3 is a Manchester based company, set up last year. The owner, Suzanne Doyle quotes the saying “one man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure” as being inspiration for her work, the idea being that small items can be given a new lease of life.
The website www.19eighty3.co.uk mentions parties, workshops and commissions, but also features a selection of Suzanne’s work. As part of our continuing Shop Showcase series, here are 10 of our favourite home accessories from this unusual store.
The site has a good selection of what they call love frames. We like this grandparent themed love frame. The verse is typed on a stitched piece of card with a flowery pattern around the top half and a glass front to keep it clean. The 6×4 cards costs £8.
This quaint rustic heart, costing £3.50, comes with the option of having lavender added, so you could place it in with clothes, or simply hang it on a radiator or sit it on a shelf. The pink and cream material is very attractive looking so it is worth showing it off, rather than hiding it away.
There are several suggestions given on what to do with this rustic heart garland – you could frame a mirror, door or wall. We like this red and white fabric, and the garland can also be stuffed with lavender. The cost is £25 or £28 with the lavender.
For £60 19eighty3 sell this children’s tent. The flowery patterned cover means that it shouldn’t date. Children love tents and will enjoy playing in one of these, which you could put up in their bedroom or in the garden.
The quaint wall hanging is very simple looking, but effective. A variety of different styles are available. This one simply states ‘love’ in bright colours and costs £17.50.
The rustic heart in the picture is personalised – to Granny. It is made of a bright blue material with white polka dots – very cheerful looking. Like many of the other products on the site you can ask for it to be filled with lavender. Prices start at £.5.50.
Royal events over the past few years have made bunting popular again. The pink flowers and green leaves on this bunting are bright and cheerful. For twenty pounds you get one metre.
“A cup of tea is like having a bath in the inside” is what this love frame says. Sitting on a brown backing and with a glass front to protect the material, this love frame would look perfect on a kitchen wall. The price is £8.
We love the verse on this love frame. It is unusual enough to have impact and would make a lovely gift. Like the others it costs £8, but unlike many of the others it sits on a competely flowery patterned backing.
This Christmas stocking is available for a girl or a boy – blue or pink. If you are not too bothered about sterotypical colours you will like these stockings. The pale colours mean that you are not hit by strong pink or blue. Each of the stockings costs £20.
