The House of Bulldog and Moose was recently brought to our attention as a newly opened store. We took a look, as we’re always on the lookout for something that little bit different, and we’re pleased to report that Bulldog and Moose doesn’t fail to impress.
House of Bulldog & Moose is named after the owners – British-Finnish married couple, Mark and Rosa Stewart, who live in London. The logo with a British bulldog and a Finnish moose was designed by Mark for their 2011 wedding invitation. True to their roots, Bulldog & Moose are strongly influenced by British and Nordic designs, however products from other countries are also stocked. Here are ten of our favourites.
Number one on our list is this Dekorando feel felt pot stand in lime and fuchsia. The price is reasonable for a handmade product- £21. The pot stand is made from soft lime green felt balls. Dekorando feel felt products are made from soft felt balls. Together they make a solid and attractive looking pot stand.
British designer Magpie has designed this Magpie wildlife dusk mug. Bristol based artist Tom Frost has designed a range of four mugs centred around British wildlife. So we have an otter, an owl, a hare and a fox. The mug comes in a matching gift box and is both dishwasher and microwave safe. Price is £9.
Sometimes black and white can appear more colourful than colour, and have more impact. This Lapuan Kanurit Maatuska wool blanket in black and white is one example. Maatuska is Finnish for matryoshka doll. The woolen blanket is from a design by Lapuan Kankurit, and sells for £69.
The Saana ja Olli Maailman Synty cushion, costing £69, comes in a choice of either black print on a white background, or white print on a black background. It also comes in two sixes 40 by 60cm and 60 by 80cm. The cover is made from 100% European hemp and is made in Finland. Maailman Synty is Finnish for ‘the Birth of the World’ and it is inspired by the age old creation myths and the rich Finnish wall rug tradition.
