Kitchen accessories: 10 of the best chopping boards

Whether you like your chopping board to be modern or traditional, colourful or plain, practical or decorative, there is a good selection on the market. You can even have your name or a message engraved on a chopping board.

1. Hevea garlic board

Dunelm Mill brings us this wonderful Hevea garlic board. The idea of having a separate board for garlic does not immediately spring to mind, but once it does, it does sound like a very good idea and helps avoid garlic getting into other foods by mistake. The wooden board has ‘Garlic’ printed on the front and a picture of some garlic at the bottom. At the moment the price is reduced to £2.49.

2. End grain butchers block

We love this end grain butchers block from the Cooks Kitchen. Sitting on elevated feet and made from beechwood, it looks very sturdy. The butchers block is available in two sizes – square or rectangular, and costs £36.63 to £36.99.

3. Joseph Joseph cut and carve plus small chopping board

We do love Joseph Joseph. This Joseph Joseph cut and carve plus small chopping board in green has an integral meat grip on one side, and a smooth cutting surface on the other. It is dishwasher safe, with soft grip sides and nongrip feet. You can buy it from the Art of Living website for £14.

4. Colour coded chopping board

If you do a lot of cooking and like the idea of having separate chopping boards for different foods then these colour coded chopping boards from Drinkstuff are perfect. Costing £39.99 for the set of six , the high resistant polycarbonate chopping boards will not crack, chip or rot.

5. Oak log paddle chopping board

Here is a chopping board you would get away with putting on the dining table, perhaps to serve cheese on. With a smooth finish, the oak paddle chopping board is only £12 from Sainsburys.

6.  Joseph Joseph cut and collect chopping board

Another Joseph Joseph chopping board we like is the Joseph Joseph cut and collect chopping board. This has definitely been designed by a cook. The striking green chopping board has an integrated drawer which can be used to collect chopped food. Or you can store a knife there. Sterling Furniture sell it for £20.

7. Personalised wooden chopping board

Not on the High Street sells this personalised wooden chopping board – a great gift idea. Made from Olive wood, two messages of up to thirty characters can be engraved on the wood. The price is £25.

8. Top Gourmet recycled board

Armorica sell these top gourmet recycled boards, in a warm nutmeg colour. They are made from recycled cardboard. The set of three costs £38.49.

9. Chef’n prepstation 3 in 1 cutting board

Here is a chopping board which has everything a – a removable colander for rinsing food, and another removable tray for peelings perhaps. The chef’n prepstation 3 in 1 cutting board is made of bamboo and the trays are plastic. Drinkstuff sell it for£43.99.

10. White chopping board

Here is a white chopping board which has been designed for users with a weak grip, the elderly or disabled. The stainless steel spikes hold items in place for cutting or peeling. The raised edge around one corner allows the user to move an item up against it to prevnt it moving. Complete Care shop sell it for £35.95.
