Top 10 Fair Trade Home Accessories

One thing I noticed when I was taking part in the Cox & Kings blogging challenge was that many of the Indian products I found were Fair Trade, and well priced too.

So, we’ve put together a list of  the Top 10 Fair Trade home accessories, all available online, and catering for different tastes.

1. Large recycled newspaper mirror

This large recycled newspaper mirror is currently on sale, down from £65 to £38 at Traidcraft. Recycled newspaper looks fantastic in products – very fresh and modern, when you see it close up.

The chunky frame allows for the material to be shown off and the mirror has a light contemporary feel about it.

2. Kanther janwar Fair Trade cushion cover

For those who can’t get to Ganesha’s shop on London’s South Bank their website is the next best thing. Ganesha imports quality home furnishings and accessories from India, sourced from or developed with co-operatives and producer associations.

These kanther janwar cushion covers are beautifully embroidered on a neural background.  This one sells for £24.99.

3. Carved wooden Fair Trade coasters

Paprika Shop sells this set of six carved wooden coasters for £7. Made from shesham wood both the coasters and their case are carved with a flower design.

4. Fair Trade  Floral Quilt

This Fair Trade floral quilt is a bit unusual in its design. The cover has red and golden flowers on a teal background and is sold by ethicalsupermarket.com. At the moment they are offering 20% off, selling at £103.20.

5. Fair Trade beaded heavy cotton towels

Cebra sell fair trade eco accessories, vegan organic skin care products and recycled and sustainable accessories most of which are made in the European Union.

We like these beaded heavy cotton towels which are available in moss or sand. They are currently on sale with the bath towel down from £24 to £17 and the hand towel down from £13 to £8.

6. Recycled tin watering can

This recycled tin watering can is fun and funky. Made in Delhi from recycled tin, each watering can is unique. Furniture Divas sell them for £25.

7. Cat design Fair Trade door mat

The colours in this cat design door mat are striking. It is made in southern India from environmentally friendly coconut fibre with an option of purple or green background.  Mimosa Style sells it for £15.95.

8. Fair Trade circles bowl

Fairer Planet sells these delightful circles bowls for £14.70 or three for £42.76. The assorted sizes of metal hoops are cleverly interconnected to form a bowl with a diameter of 27cm.

They make ideal fruit bowls or can be used to hold bits and bobs.

9. Fair Trade ceramic light pulls

These ceramic light pulls from Daisy Daisy have great novelty value but at £4 each it’s hard to criticise. Hand painted in India and approximately 10cm long each one is unique.

10.  Fair Trade Kisi Stone platter

This kisi stone platter from Fair Gift is made in Bangladesh. The soapstone platter is  hand-carved with African stripe pattern on a red and black background. Cost is £24.
