Shop Showcase: Top 10 home accessories from Houseology

This time in our Shop Showcase series, we’re turning our attentions to look at Occa-Home – now known as Houseology.

Houseology (Occa-Home) was set up in 2003 by interior designer Kate Mooney and her business partner, Wendy Clark. The online store specialises in selling stylish, luxury and unique brands of interior homeware products and is packed with inspiring ideas for your home.

With some products being designer brands and high end pieces, product prices reflect this. But don’t let this put you off looking at the site if you’re not endowed with a huge budget, as there are plenty of hidden home gems and items to cater for more modest budgets on the site too.

Here are our top 10 home accessories from Houseology.

1. Just slate egg cup set

This Just slate egg cup set looks perfect for breakfast. The white ceramic egg cup, salt pot and spoon sits on a black slate tray 15cm by 15cm. It costs £29.50 and would be great for giving someone breakfast in bed.

2. GroundGate Amy Round Tin Box set of 2

Biscuit tins nowadays make a statement. They say something about your style. The GroundGate Amy Round Tin Box set of two consists of two differently sized biscuit tins, both slightly different in design, but following the blue background and dark pick flower pattern.

3. Kinto carat teapot

Glass and stainless steel teapots don’t tend to be so popular in this country. But this kinto carat teapot goes against the grain a bit. The teapot has durable stainless steel strainer and is perfect for all kinds of tea leaves.The lid is made of two materials – stainless steel and plastic – to give it a durable and user friendly design, and also has space for the  air to buffer the heat of the boiled water. It is available in two sizes. The small one has 600ml capacity, the large one has 850ml capacity.

4. Diamantini & Domeniconi Meridiana Cuckoo Clock Yellow

Houseology have a great choice of designer clocks. The yellow in this Diamantini & Domeniconi Meridiana Cuckoo Clock Yellow is striking, rather than overpowering. It is a cuckoo clock with a bit of a differennce – a contemporary take on the traditional design. It can either hang on the wall or sit on a sideboard.

5. Wireworks geo fruitbowl

The thought behind this Wireworks geo fruit bowl is interesting. It has perforations in the bevelled oak base, creating a dynamic feature but also circulating the air and keeping the fruit fresher for longer. The bowl would make a great table centrepiece.

6. Nuance tablecloth clips

Part of the idea behind Houseology is that they sell items which you would normally find in hotels but are not be able to source yourself. These nuance tablecloth clips are a great example of that. For £37 you get a set of four tablecloth clips which offer a good and stable weight to the edges of your dining tablecloth, so that the cloth is kept firmly in place on the table. As well as using them when dining inside, they’d be useful to use when dining outdoors in the garden too.

7. Bodum twin salt and pepper grinder

The Bodum twin salt and pepper grinder switches between salt and pepper with its powerful ceramic gears making the manual grinder easy to use. Another useful design feature is the window which shows you when it needs to be filled up.

8. Eichholtz rope chair

It is the detail in the legs rather than the seat itself which makes this Eichholtz rope chair, priced £698, so amazing. The ornate sculptural rope base design has high gloss finish, and is perfect for grand dressing rooms, bedrooms or even lounges. It is upholstered in soft grey fabric with rich burnished stud detailing.

9. Eiccholtz Capitol coffee table – weathered

Another unusual product is the Eiccholtz Capitol coffee table. Based on a classical Roman column scroll design, it has a weathered effect with distressed metal finish. The dimensions are 74cm by 36cm by 74cm and the cost is £990.

 

 

10. Sagaform baguette set

It is always useful to have a bread board that you can sit on the table – one that looks as if it would fit in and isn’t too bulky. The Sagaform baguette set, which is made from bamboo, has a stylish bread board with printed baguette logo on the handle and scooped inner which cradles crumbs from crusty loaves of bread.  You could also use it for serving cheese and grapes.
