The traditional hat and coat stand has slowly been replaced by coat hooks, but they just don’t have the same impact. A hat and coat stand is much more of a statement and is a feature in a hallway in the way modern hooks couldn’t begin to be.
Although they are seen much less frequently, there are companies which still sell them. White Cottage Living is one such company. It sells the twelve hook coat stand in white, brown, black and natural, taking into account the many different styles of today’s houses.
Like all good hat and coat stands of yesteryear there is an umbrella and walking stick holder. The hat and coat stand costs £50.
I agree, they definitely don’t have the same impact! The only problem is that with homes getting smaller, coat hooks are just a bit more space efficient. Sadly our hat and coat stand is in pieces in the shed, awaiting the day we have a big enough hallway…!
Oh no that’s a shame. Agree they do take up a lot of room, but definitely good to see that the old classics stil sell.
