Summer was definitely here when I was approached to review the new Vacu Vin Active Cooler. Barbecues in the garden, and the odd evening spent relaxing in the garden made these sound like a great idea. Sadly, a few days later, the sun had gone and it was back to eating and drinking inside. But a chilled glass of wine is still appreciated from time to time.
There are four different types of coolers – a champagne cooler, a wine cooler, a water bottle cooler and a can cooler. The plastic coolers are easy to store in the freezer as they fold down neatly. I tested the wine cooler with its plain purple pattern.
I think I would have liked a more jazzy design, particularly if it is going to be in your eye view for the evening, but it is certainly not an eyesore.
Many years ago I worked in a pub in the Australian outback so was very used to the idea of drinks coolers. I would say that the Vacu Vin active cooler is an improvement on what I have seen previously. They are made to last, rather than the polystyrene ones we used to use.
Did it keep my wine cool? Yes I’m pleased to say it did. Would I recommend buying one? Yes, I think I would. At £8 for the wine bottle cooler I don’t think it is too much to pay.
The Vacu Vin Active Cooler is available to buy from Amazon and other independent retailers (the RRP of the Champagne Cooler is £11, the wine Cooler £8, the Water Bottler cooler £4 and the Can Cooler £4).
