Top 10 door stops

June 27, 2012 By Jackie Cosh 1 Comment

Doorstops nowadays are far more than a piece of old wood. There are some fantastic choices out there, and if you take great care in buying accessories for your house, why stop at the door?

We’ve rounded up 10 of our favourite door stops.

1. Key doorstop

This key doorstop from Ziggiziggi is made from non slip rubber. Available in neutral black it is a fun and funky addition to the hall and is one of the more modern looking doorstops around. Its practical design would appeal if you are wanting to avoid the furry animal type doorstops. The doorstop costs £7.50.

2. Angus Highland cow door stop

This Angus Highland cow doorstop is your typical furry animal type doorstop. With its faux fur it looks like a cuddly toy but is much heavier.  If you have children they will love it but so will adults. The design comes from Dora Designs and it costs £21.98 from Stylish Life.

3.Union jack dog door stop

There has been an increase in union jack designed products in the year of the jubilee and you can even have your own union jack door stop. Red Hen has brought out this union jack dog doorstop for the more patriotic amongst us. It is perfect if you want something that will stand out. The doorstop costs £22.

4. Cast iron Punch and Judy door stop

If you fancy something a bit more solid take a look at Cast in Style, a company which specialises in making and selling cast iron goods. This Punch and Judy doorstop set is made from cast iron with a polished finish, and is also available in black. Each door stop weighs 4.5 kg, easily keeping those doors ajar. The set costs £120.

Another dog door stop here, but the selection of them is so good that it’s hard to choose only one. Campbell the Scottish dog doorstopper costs £21.99 from Strawberry Fool.  Made from black and grey dogtooth check fabric he is 32cm long, with the company also selling a matching draught excluder.

Funky Honey sells some cute and quirky gifts. One of our favourites is this Where’s Wally door stop. Standing at 17cm high, the Martin Handford character stands in his trademark striped jumper and blue jeans. Small enough to be missed he will cause guests to take a double look when they do notice him. The door stop costs £7.50.
