Amara UK recently contacted Home Gems about taking part in a blogging competition. The task set was to review a Fatboy item from their website which I would like to win. Amara chooses the best blog post, based partly on reader engagement, and the winner gets to keep what they have reviewed.
A bit of background about Amara first of all. Amara was set up in January 2005 by interior designer Sam Hood. It is an online boutique which sells luxury gift ideas as well as wedding gifts. It stocks many designer brands – Missoni, Ralph Lauren, Joseph Joseph, Hugo Boss.
The Fatboy brand originates from designer Jukka Setälä’s time designing a twenty first century beanbag while listening to the tunes of Fatboy Slim. The oversized beanbags with huge labels on the side became the Fatboy. Dutchman Alex took over the brand in 2002 and started the brand Fatboy.
Since then gigantic lamps, magical hammocks and outdoor chandeliers have all joined the Fatboy brand.
I had a look around the website and quite a few items caught my attention. The Edison lamp intrigued me, really because of the fact you can use it inside and out.
I would have loved one of the hammocks, but living in Scotland as I do I suspect it would not get much use, certainly not outside.
The one section that did keep catching my eye was the beanbags, both the ones for inside and outside. The beanbag named The Original is my favourite.
Made from high quality nylon, with a PVC coating that is dirt and moisture repellent, so that it can be spot cleaned, the beanbag measures 180cm by 140cm. We currently have one beanbag in the living room but it really can’t compare to this one. It looks so comfy and I could quite easily imagine relaxing in it for a couple of hours.
It comes in a variety of colours, all of which look good. I would choose the black as it would go well with my slate grey suite. But most of the colours are pretty neutral.

Ooh, they look fab, don’t they?! I do love a beanbag. I got the girls beanbag chairs for Christmas last year and they love them, tho I think they could do with a bean top up!
A giant beanie would be lovely to bury into and read, and I love the idea of garden ones.
Love that light too!
Oh yes definitely love the idea of the bean bags for indoor and outdoor use. More so even than the hammock as that would take up so much space. But just being able to throw the bags about and lounge around is really appealing. Also, I’ve a long, bench like storage thing in the garden too. I could easily keep them in there.
The Edison light is interesting. If must be weather proof, is it mains powered of battery?
Thanks for commenting Siobhan. Beanbags are great for kids’ rooms although my daughter’s one does need refilled I think. This one looks as if it wouldn’t be a problem.
Agree, I like the way they are so versatile.
I think it’s battery powered Mike.
