Serve a salad in style: Top 10 salad servers

If you love a good salad, you need a good pair of salad servers!

Whether you like the traditional stainless steel or the more modern wooden hands, there is a good choice of salad servers and tongs available, both in terms of style, type and price. Here are 10 of our favourites.

1. Funky tri-tone salad servers

These funky tri-tone salad servers are quite stunning looking. The servers are made from recycled aluminium, and the handles have been enamelled with purple and lime.

They are hand-wash only and cost £17.99 from The Design Company, which also sells matching bowls and platters.

2. Acacia salad tongs

These acacia salad tongs cost £7.99 from Lakeland. Made from natural sustainable acacia wood which is hard wearing and long lasting, the tongs have a rustic look about them.

3. Rocha.John Rocha salad hands

These delightful salad hands from Rocha.John Rocha are made from classic beech wood. They are very easy to use and are both elegant and casual at the same time. For cleaning the servers can be wiped clean and are currently on sale from Debenhams at £5.25 for the pair.

4. Stainless steel salad servers

These  18/10 stainless steel salad servers from Culinary Concepts come in an attractive gift shop and are a popular choice.

The set contains a fork and a spoon, both with a small leaf towards the base. They would be idea for a more formal dining experience. At the moment they are on sale at £26.80 for the pair.

5. Heart salad servers

This set of heart salad servers from Colourful Living are marketed as the ideal wedding gift and you can see why.

The heart shape theme throughout the design is of course very fitting, and the sparkling silver makes it the perfect present. Hand wash only the servers come in a gift box. Cost is £43 from Travelling Souk.

6. Salad Bunny salad servers

Invotis Orange makes original, intelligent and playful products sold by companies such as Dutch by Design, which specialises in supplying contemporary lighting and funky home accessories from Dutch designers.

They are responsible for bringing out these funky bunny salad servers, available in red or white. Fun looking, they are perfect to serve to people who like to joke about people eating ‘rabbit food’. The servers cost £6.95.

7. The salad plant

Another fun and funky set of salad servers here, this time the Salad Plant.

The Salad Plant comprises of a pair of leafy salad servers that stand upright in their own pot. Both made from melamine, the pot also doubles as a mixing and serving dish, as well as a useful pot for making a salad dressing.

They are available from Present Provider, a great place to look for ideas for presents for all occasions. The servers and the pot cost £17.50.

8. Teak springy salad tongs

Teaklimey is a company based in Thailand which specialises in the design and manufacturing of recycled teak kitchenware but also make lifestyle products from other local materials such as bamboo.

These teak salad tongs fold away so that they sit flat for storage in the drawer. They are very obviously Asian in design and look long lasting. Cost is £13 including p & p.

9. Rabbit ear salad tongs

Another rabbit theme set of salad tongs here. This time the rabbit ear salad tongs are designed so that the rabbit ears stick out when the tongs are placed in the salad.

The plastic set consists of one spoon and one fork and costs £5 from Fred & Pickles.

10. Olive wood salad servers

Ethnic Tribe sells ethnic gifts from around the world, gifts such as these olive wood salad servers.

Made by the crafts people of Jedando Modern Handicrafts in Kenya, the handles are carved from cow bone and the pattern is created by melting the wax on the bone and the dipping it into dye. The finished product is a beautiful set of unique servers costing £19.99.
