Following the boom of coffee shops, tea has been the next drink to come back into fashion. Along with the increase in people drinking herbal teas, kettles have come back into their own and there are some fantastic kettles on the market.

1. Graef white temperature kettle
This graef white temperature kettle is very modern in design. It is made by Graeg a German company which produces egonomic and user-friendly products. The company has been going for fifty years and the products are still designed and hand made in Arnsberg.
At first glance this looks like a fancy modern kettle and nothing more. But there is more to it than that. The kettle has four temperature functions – 70 degrees, 80 degrees, 90 degrees and boiling. Different teas have different optimal temeperatures. The XO kettle from Eva Solo has no cables or heating coil. It is made of a special multi-layered material of aluminiu, and stainless steel and can be used on all heat sources. The lid is removable for cleaning and the kettle is dishwasher safe. Made in Design sell it for £119.
3. Russell Hobbs black glass kettle
Glass might not be the type of material which would be your first choice when choosing a kettle but this Russell Hobbs black glass kettle looks and performs fantastically. It is quick to boil and sits on a 360 degree base. The element is concealed for easy cleaning and it has a 1.5litre capacity. Amazon sells it for £59.99.
4. Prestige traditional kettle
The Prestige traditional kettle comes in black, red or almond. Although it is very traditional in design, the pearlescent finish makes it look modern, so it would really fit into any kitchen. It has a fast boil concealed element, 1.5 litre water capacity, and an automatic boil-dry safety cut out and overheat protector for safety. The water level gauge is easy to read. Sterling Furniture sell it for £52.
5. Lakeland travel kettle
Travel kettles are often cheap and boring looking. This travel kettle from Lakeland isn’t. Stainless steel and black, it weighs just over 500g and comes with two plastic beakers and spoons and a handy dividing cannister for coffee and sugar. The kettle holds enough for two cups of tea or coffee, and usually costs £21.99, but is currently reduced to £14.99.
6. German made glass water kettle
Kettles Direct is a great place to look for kettles with nearly twenty different makes of kettles, in many different colours. This German made glass water kettle is made of top quality heat-resistant glass and is nickel free. It can be used on any type of stove apart from induction stoves, as well as in a microwave, and when the water starts to boil it is an impressive sight.The kettle which costs £32.95 is dishwasher safe.
7. Morphy Richards Accents pyramid copper kettle
Kettles Direct also sells this Morphy Richards pyramid kettle in metalic orange. Both the colour and the shape are very modern and it would look very stylish in a modern kitchen. At the moment the price is reduced to £33.29.
8. Retro & Funky 2.5litre ocean blue whistling kettle
There are at least two great things about this retro and funky 2.5 litre ocean blue whistling kettle from the Emporium Kitchen – the colour, and the price. At the moment Amazon is selling it for less than half price at just £6.85, instead of its usual cost of £14.99. The kettle can be used on gas, electric, vitro and induction hobs and whistles when the water starts to boil. If the blue colour is too much for you it also comes in green.
9. Collapsible kettle
Menkind sells original gifts and accessories for men, which is probably the kind of place you would expect to find a collapsible kettle. It is marketed for use when camping and for the festival season. However it is also dishwasher safe. Made from sillicone with a stainless steel base, it can be used on an electrical, induction or gas stove. When not in use it folds up to 5.5cm. The kettle costs £29.99.
10. Eco-friendly kettle
Nigel’s eco-store is a good place to look for eco-friendly household items. It sells this white eco-kettle for £32.99. The kettle has two chambers and the idea is that you measure out how much water you need. You press the top button to release the required amount of water for boiling. The water you don’t use remains in the other compartment for next time. Typical energy saving is estimated at 32% and the kettle costs £32.99.
